How to Use the Thermapen IR
Switching between the Thermapen IR’s probe and infrared readings is easy.
Simply open the probe to begin measuring internal food temperatures. To use the infrared sensor, close the probe and press the scan button. Use the mode button to view max/min infrared readings.
The infrared thermometer has a target ratio of 5:1, so it should be positioned as close to the target as possible for accurate readings. The default emissivity is 0.95, but it can be adjusted between 0.1 and 1.0.
