Stephen D. The Thermapen One seems well made. It's responsive accurate and easy to use. One gripe I have is that it's designed for right handed use only.
I haven't had chance to use the Dot for a roast yet but from basic tests it seems to be a well made product that would function as advertised.
The magnetic temperature guide that came in the bundle is really handy.
