How RFX Works

RFX MEAT to GATEWAY

RFX MEAT sends readings to your RFX GATEWAY using radio frequency waves, which maintain a strong connection through thick obstacles like ovens and BBQs. This means no interrupted readings during your cook.

GATEWAY to Your Device

Your RFX GATEWAY sends readings to your device using WiFi, which means you can monitor your cooks from anywhere with an internet connection. View the progress of your cook and get alerts through the ETI app.

Offline Mode

Don't have WiFi available? No problem. You can use a direct gateway-to-smartphone Bluetooth connection instead. This is perfect for cooking in remote locations like beaches or campsites.

What 0.4 seconds really looks like

Thermapen NANO delivers a final temperature in just 0.4 seconds - more than twice as fast as Thermapen ONE. Less time waiting for a reading means faster checks, less time over the heat and quicker decisions while you cook.

Patent-pending ThermaBoost® Technology detects a major temperature change and instantly increases the sampling rate from 5 to 20 times per second. Once the final temperature is reached, it drops back down to preserve battery life.

Frequently asked questions

What's included in the Thermapen NANO & RFX 2 Probe Set?

The set includes a Thermapen NANO in your choice of colour, an RFX 2 Probe Starter Kit, a protective zip wallet and a BBQ temperature guide magnet. The RFX kit includes two wireless MEAT probes, an RFX Gateway and an Air Probe for monitoring temperatures throughout cooking. Use your Thermapen NANO for instant spot checks before serving.

Why would I need two RFX wireless meat probes?

Having two RFX MEAT probes means you can monitor two different meats at the same time, or check temperatures in different areas of a larger cut. Both probes connect to the same RFX Gateway, so you can follow their readings and receive temperature alerts through the ETI Cloud app.

What's the difference between RFX and Thermapen NANO?

The RFX wireless meat probes stay in your food throughout cooking, allowing you to monitor internal temperatures without repeatedly opening the oven or BBQ. Thermapen NANO gives accurate readings in just 0.4 seconds, making it ideal for checking different areas of your food before serving.

Is the Thermapen NANO & RFX 2 Probe Set a good gift for someone who enjoys BBQ?

Yes, it's the perfect option for anyone who enjoys BBQ, smoking meat or roasting. The two RFX probes are particularly useful for cooking multiple meats or larger cuts, and Thermapen NANO provides quick temperature checks before serving. The set also includes a protective zip wallet and BBQ temperature guide magnet.
