Battery Life Guidelines

With RFX, you can choose how often it sends temperature readings to your device — every 1.0°C/F, 1.5°C/F or 3.0°C/F change. The bigger the interval, the longer your battery lasts.

Here's what we recommend based on your cook time:

  • Quick Cooks (Under 5 Hours) – 1.0 °C/F intervals 
  • Medium Cooks (5-15 Hours) – 1.5 °C/F intervals 
  • Long Cooks (15-65 Hours) – 3.0 °C/F intervals 

We suggest following these guidelines to ensure your battery life lasts throughout your entire cook.

How RFX Works

RFX MEAT to GATEWAY

RFX MEAT sends readings to your RFX GATEWAY using radio frequency waves, which maintain a strong connection through thick obstacles like ovens and BBQs. This means no interrupted readings during your cook.

GATEWAY to Your Device

Your RFX GATEWAY sends readings to your device using WiFi, which means you can monitor your cooks from anywhere with an internet connection. View the progress of your cook and get alerts through the ETI app.

Offline Mode

Don't have WiFi available? No problem. You can use a direct gateway-to-smartphone Bluetooth connection instead. This is perfect for cooking in remote locations like beaches or campsites.
